I am excited to announce that just last month I (along with my co-writers James Edgar Lim and Zac Bridgman) won the Best Screenplay award at the Lights! Canberra! Action! short film festival.
The short film, directed by Zac, was entitled ‘Till Undeath” and was the story of a woman visiting her zombified husband in a care facility while waiting for a cure. Each visit she purchases a FLASH! device that temporarily returns his human senses, and each time he begs her to let him go.
She decides to break him out.
The short film was one of 12 (out of 37 submitted to the competition) shortlisted to be shown at the Enlighten festival in Canberra. It was stiff competition with some excellent other films and in the end we not only won the Best Screenplay award, but the film came 3rd overall.
Zac did an amazing job directing and producing and the cast – who gave their time, expertise and equipment freely – were a pleasure to work with.
The screenwriting bug is certainly under my skin now…
